Barossa Valley

The wine capital of Australia

South Australia’s iconic, world-renowned food and wine utopia

The Barossa Valley is the wine capital of Australia and one of South Australia’s most highly regarded destinations. The image of the Barossa is depicted by rolling hills, picturesque villages clustered together and rows of vineyards framing an outback farming landscape.

Located only an hour’s drive North from Adelaide, this region is one of Australia’s greatest wine growing areas, with over 150 wineries and cellar doors.

The inherent history and culture of the region is an undercurrent influencing what is produced in the Barossa today. Seven generations of grape growers and artisan producers have worked to establish this land to produce outstanding food and wine.

  • Enjoy a stay at The Louise, the Barossa’s beautiful and quaint luxury accommodation located just outside the main township.
  • Experience a private tasting at Seppeltsfield, and sample a Tawny that was barrelled during your birth year.
  • Enjoy an exquisite degustation luncheon with the team at St Hugo’s, where the menu has been designed specially to complement their incredible range of wine.
  • Come and discover a unique Paddock to Plate experience with two of the oldest-generational families to live in the Barossa in a unique private experience at the iconic, multi-generational Barossa producers, Hutton Vale Farm and Henschke Wines.

Summer in the Barossa Valley is between December to February with the temperatures typically ranging from 26 – 29° C (78.8 – 84.2° F). Winter in South Australia and the Barossa Valley falls between June and August with the temperature often sitting between 12 – 16° C (53.6 – 60.8° F).

Spring and Autumn are both fantastic seasons to visit the Barossa Valley, as the region is alive with colour and temperatures range from 17 – 26° C (62.6 – 78.8° F).

What do our experts say about Barossa Valley?

"The Tailor’s Hutton Vale Farm Paddock to Plate experience perfectly captures the spirit of the Barossa region. This private day includes exclusive access to the Angas family’s sustainable farm, fine boutique wines, and a lovingly prepared lunch from fresh farm ingredients shared with stories around the table from family members."
