EP Cruises

A family-owned and operated business run by Rod and Simone Keogh since 2010, EP Cruises is an exceptional marine tour business offering seasonal tours to highlight the beauty of the western Eyre Peninsula, including the annual Southern Right Whale migration occurring each winter. Their 50ft passenger vessel Asherah and carefully-constructed itineraries are designed to immerse like-minded explorers into the remote and pristine Western coastline of the rugged Eyre Peninsula.

Offering private day and overnight cruises in regions across the Great Australian Bight, guests of EP Cruises will discover abundant wildlife, remote and stunning vistas, engage in aquatic activities in pristine wilderness, and more.

EP Cruises is based at Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula throughout most of the year. Between July to September, Asherah and the team relocate at Fowlers Bay on the far west coast of the Eyre Peninsula to witness the annual Southern Right Whale migration.

EP Cruises come with a range of pre-designed itineraries, including a range of day and multi-day overnight charters.

Fowlers Bay Whale Watching

Available from July to September, this day tour is located just off the rugged coast of the Eyre Peninsula. At South Australia’s most remote community of Fowlers Bay, the water comes alive with the annual migration of the Southern Right Whale as they migrate. This experience departs daily and offers possible sightings and up-and-close interactions with up to 100 Southern Right Whales and plentiful Humpback Whales, accompanied by a chorus of bottlenose and common dolphins, Australian sea lions, long-nosed fur seals, white-bellied sea eagles, albatross, little penguins, and many other species.

Built over years of familiarity across annual migrations, EP Cruises can identify individual whales, have watched and welcomed calves, watched them grow and develop their own personalities, building a mutual respect with the wildlife without intruding. These gentle giants are acquainted with your hosts and comfortable enough to potentially get close and personal to the vessel. Through a hydrophone submerged into the waters, guests will bear witness to elusive and beautiful whale song.

This special experience is not one to be missed.

Nuyts Archipelago Expedition

Raw and untouched, the Nuyts Archipelago is composed of 22 remote islands located off the far-flung West Coast of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

Departing on a monthly basis and designed for the intrepid traveller, this off-the-beaten path four-day journey takes guests to the most remote camping location in South Australia within in a wildlife haven and Wilderness Protection Area located 60 kilometres off the coast of Ceduna.

Guests will merge with nature at its most remote upon islands rarely seen or visited. Accompanied by a maximum of ten guests, you’ll go frolicking with dolphins and sea lions, cruise down inlet rivers, snorkel and fish in pristine waters, embark on remote bush hikes, explore colonial ruins, and more.

At night, you’ll settle in at your beachfront makeshift camp and share stories around the campfire, uncover the mysteries of the region, and admire the shimmering Milky Way from the comfort of your double swag. Throughout your time exploring, you’ll be fed with exceptional seafood and beach cook-ups, featuring secret oyster and abalone recipes.

These daily adventures are structured around the observation of the short-tailed shearwater migration on St. Francis Island. You’ll be awed by the breathtaking sight of over half a million birds arriving just after dark, and taking off at sunrise in one of nature’s finest displays.

Between its abundant bird and marine life, aquatic adventures, and rugged wilderness tucked far away from civilisation, there’s nothing but Paradise in this truly remote and very special archipelago.

Day Charters

EP Cruises offer a range of day tours immersing guests into the locale, including an Ocean to Plate Taster Experience including a visit to an Oyster Farm, exploring a remote island off the coast of Ceduna, wildlife spotting excursions, sunset cruises with sundowners, and more.

The Fowlers Bay Whale Watching Expedition and Whale Kayaking experiences are available between July to September.

Expeditions off the coast of Streaky Bay and Ceduna, including the Nuyts Archipelago Expedition, are available between November to May.
