Mount Mulligan

In the shadow of majestic Mt Mulligan, and sitting on 28,000 hectares of eucalyptus rich outback land, is Australia’s newest luxury lodge

Accommodating just 16 exclusive guests, Mount Mulligan is an all-inclusive remote outback station designed to immerse guests in the extraordinary landscape, and provide a rugged and authentic Australian adventure with a distinctly luxe edge. With captivating views of the Mt Mulligan ridge, picturesque eucalyptus forest surrounding the lodge, and a weir brimming with barramundi, this is an idyllic Australian outback setting.

The Lodge welcomes children of all ages, and guests are accommodated in just 4 stand-alone pavilions designed to blend into the native setting, and enhance the feeling of seclusion and privacy. Mount Mulligan is a working cattle station and activities are focussed on experiencing the landscape, wildlife and unique heritage of this region.

Mount Mulligan

Mount Mulligan is located 100kms North-West of Cairns, and represents a lesser-known area of Tropical North Queensland – Outback Queensland.

The region is rich in rugged landscapes of eucalyptus woodlands, rolling hills and the 18km long and 2.6km wide Ngarrabullgan, or Mount Mulligan, at the heart of the area. This land is the country of the Djungan people, and has a long and fascinating history from Indigenous settlement to the colonial gold rush and coal boom, right up until present day.

The Mount Mulligan property makes up 28,000 hectares of this remote region.

Mount Mulligan is accessible via 35-minute helicopter flight from Cairns, or depending on the season, a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from Cairns (4WD recommended).

*Please Note: Road closures can occur during the wet season (January – March), making reaching Mount Mulligan via road difficult.

Activities available at Mount Mulligan are designed to connect and immerse guests in the native environment of the region. Visitors to Mount Mulligan are encouraged to disconnect from their everyday lives, and explore this stunning part of Australia.

Activities offered at Mount Mulligan include:

  • Tours of Mount Mulligan Township and coal mine history
  • Tours of Tyrconnell Gold Mine
  • Stargazing with telescope
  • Mount Mulligan Southern Face and Cave Walk
  • Barramundi fishing in the weir
  • Private chef-prepared gourmet picnics
  • Degustation dining experiences
  • Exploring the station via personal ATV
