Flying High with The Tailor Team: Crown Towers

From the very moment we were warmly welcomed into the vast foyer with its impressive chandelier, stunning marble floors and sincerely helpful staff, we knew we were in for a special weekend. If the immense foyer itself wasn’t enough to impress us (although it absolutely was) the beautiful Deluxe King Rooms certainly were. Just as Crown Towers is dominant in the luxury scene in Melbourne, so too is the hotel foremost in outstanding city views. With sweeping views of the city skyline, the Yarra River or Port Phillip Bay, these rooms offer a warm and comforting, yet equally spectacular and luxurious experience of Melbourne – and quite frankly, a special treat for us at The Tailor.

For our first evening we were treated to a night out with our good friends at Localing. The amazing guides at Localing applied their exceptional local knowledge to show us some of the lesser-known hidden gems of the city. Down tiny alleys, through and behind restaurants, and up darkened stairwells, we were taken to some of the trendiest small bars in the city. Each location had a colourful history and a character with a story to tell.  After a few city stops and then out to effortlessly cool Fitzroy, we reluctantly ended our night with our lovely Localing friends. The experience that the team offer is truly incredible, and it is safe to say you would never stumble upon these hidden hole-in-the-wall treasures without Localing to uncover them for you.

To begin our Saturday morning, following a well-earned rest and a fantastic breakfast in the Crystal Club Lounge, we took a short walk down the Yarra Promenade, only to be met by a glimmering red helicopter flying overhead, baring the iconic Crown symbol. In groups of 5 our exceptional Microflite pilot took us up to the skies of Melbourne along the Yarra and through the buildings, before taking us down the coast to Bright, and back around to the city. This incredible 20-minute scenic city flight provided a perspective of Melbourne like no other, and gave us not only a greater understanding of the city, but also a truly memorable and exciting start to our day.
