Here is a summary of Oprah’s experiences!
I have been fortunate enough to fly over the Great Barrier Reef by helicopter and the view is simply stunning. The enormity and scale of the reef can only really be appreciated from the air. Even for people who have done everything – this is must – one of nature’s masterpieces at its best. As they say “only in Australia”.
Where did Oprah have a beach BBQ? Where else but on Whitehaven Beach! Truly one of the most spectacular spots in Australia. A private boat trip on qualia’s luxury vessel “Atomic“ from Hamilton Island is something special; the trip to Whitehaven through the myriad of Whitsunday islands is exceptional on its own let alone the vista and location that greets one on arrival at the beach. A picnic and a snorkel is a must or simply just swim and enjoy the setting.
Uluru is the spiritual heart of Australia and highly sacred to the local Aboriginal people. There is something very special about the first time you lay eyes on Uluru – it certainly leaves you with a sense of wonder not only about its magnitude and size but it has a presence and feeling that is hard to describe. I think you realise that it is truly ancient piece of Australia and will be there for millions of years to come. Sunrise at Uluru is a must along with table 131 with dinner under the outback sky. Staying at Longitude is the only option in my opinion.
The city of Melbourne has a unique vibe and it just knows it’s cool. From the cafes and laneways to the famous MCG and Rod Laver Arena it has something for everyone. Known as the cultural centre of Australia I love Melbourne because there is always something interesting happening whether it be an event at Federation square or a strolling down Southbank and people watching. Staying at The Lyall in hip South Yarra is a must and the restaurants in the area are all of great quality with a huge variety of choice. Plan a trip to the Yarra Valley or the Mornington peninsula but always go with a guide otherwise you will miss the secrets that only a local will know.
