North West Outback Safaris Australia is owned and operated by Cathy Wharton. With over 20 years’ experience operating in the region, Cathy and her team consistently deliver outstanding experiences exploring Tropical North Queensland. From the Daintree Rainforest to Cape York, Cathy has an innate and enthusiastic passion for the region that comes across in every tour. Her access to the Rainforest and relationships with the local indigenous people help Cathy and her team deliver an unrivalled experience.

Cathy has felt connected to nature from an early age being raised on a north Queensland cattle station in close association with the aboriginal people of the area. In her 20’s she travelled throughout Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Africa and Europe, sailed throughout the Pacific Ocean including the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. These journeys fuelled her interest in exploring her own country and learning more about its Aboriginal culture, and ultimately encouraging Cathy to share her knowledge of the region.

North West Outback Safaris custom-design tours, offering authentic experiences in the National Parks and World Heritage-listed areas of Tropical North Queensland and in particular the pristine environment of the Daintree Rainforest. Depending on your interests, your experienced private guide will tailor journeys that may incorporate Aboriginal experiences, boat cruises, walking trails, and spontaneous stops.
