Australian Coastal Safaris conducts free-spirited safaris bringing together spectacular natural scenery, incredible marine life and the unbeatable Aussie beach lifestyle. Enjoy remarkable wildlife encounters, peerless fishing and the fabulous seafood that makes Eyre Peninsula famous around the world.
Your hosts and guides are David ‘Lunch’ Doudle and his wife Mandy, who have a real passion for sharing the secrets of their stunning backyard. You’ll visit Port Lincoln, marine action capital of the southern hemisphere, Coffin Bay National Park with its enchanting cliffs, caves and coves, and amazing Baird Bay where you’ll swim with sea lions and dolphins.
Along the way, you’ll stay in local accommodation that offers a mix of waterside chic and castaway character, while Dave and Mandy provide meals that are freshly caught and brilliantly served.
Tariff includes all food and beverages, accommodation, 4WD vehicle and activities.
Doudle has prepared lunch (his nickname is starting to make so much more sense) – a trestle heaving with marron, prawns, yabbies and Moreton Bay bugs. Until now I’d been pacing myself, but something about the zippy enthusiasm of the place grabs me and the seafood surplus brings out a feeding instinct that suggests a bloodline to a seagull.
Gourmet Traveller
Eyre Peninsula is famous for its coast – more than 2,000 kilometres of breath-taking coastline, thriving marine life and some of the world’s richest waters.
It’s perhaps most famous for its farmed bluefin tuna, gracing gourmet plates in restaurants all over the globe, but also its prized oysters, King George Whiting and deep-water game fish.
The regional capital is Port Lincoln. This far-flung fishing town has the largest fishing fleet in the southern hemisphere and is home to some of the nation’s richest men. But it’s also regarded as something of an adventure capital, a place where visitors can swim with tuna, dive with Great White Sharks (the live footage for Jaws was shot near here) and join deep-sea fishing safaris.
Along the huge coastline, you can also swim with sea lions and dolphins (at legendary Baird Bay), dive with giant cuttlefish, explore dramatic national parks, discover sleepy seaside towns and find a beach to call your own.
Away from the coast, visitors encounter huge farms and charming rural communities; the Peninsula is also the gateway to the Gawler Ranges (one of Australia’s great and little-visited wilderness areas) and the sprawling Nullarbor Plain.

Port Lincoln has earned a reputation for some of the best seafood in the world and with good reason.
