The Tailor Destinations

Darwin

Gateway to the Top End

Darwin is the multi-cultural capital of Australia’s most Northern region

Famous in Australia for its laid-back lifestyle, Darwin is the perfect destination to relax and unwind. With the Dry Season bringing perfect weather, May to October is the best time to visit.

Darwin is a fantastic mix of traditional indigenous culture and modern Australian culture, with over 50 nationalities making up its 10,000-person population. This has created an incredible hub of diverse dining options, with many influenced by Asian flavours.

Darwin is the gateway to the Arnhem Land, Kakadu and Litchfield regions and is perfect to include at the beginning and end of your regional adventures. The Mindil Beach Casino Resort has a fantastic plunge pool overlooking the beachfront and is an incredible place to unwind after a multi-day adventure exploring Australia’s most remote regions.

Our Experts

What do our experts say about Darwin?

I love Darwin and the welcoming, country-town atmosphere, rather than the busyness of a large capital city. It is a gateway to many incredible outback and cultural experiences, and we’re so lucky to have it.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

The whole process of planning a client’s Australia holiday is always such a fun challenge and an opportunity to get creative. It’s an amazing feeling when your clients are finally traveling all over the country, experiencing all the beautiful and unique destinations Australia has to offer, knowing they will make memories of a lifetime. I also love being surrounded by a bunch of creative and passionate people and our team is just that! There is so much knowledge in our office and we are constantly learning from one another.

A destination on my bucket list… Why?

The beautiful Lord Howe Island, located in the Tasman Sea and off the New South Wales Coast. This World Heritage listed Island is the perfect destination for nature lovers like myself. With its lush rainforest with rare and endemic flora and fauna, pristine beaches and sea life there is just so much to explore. When I travel, I enjoy a good balance between relaxing and reading my book and being out and about hiking, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking or surfing. Lorde Howe Island would certainly tick all these boxes.
