Karen Holloway
Operations Manager AT THE TAILOR

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

Working with an amazing team of people from all walks of life with a passion for creating exception experiences that showcase our beautiful country.

Beach escape or outback adventure? Why?

The outback! I’ve been lucky to have lived in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and now Adelaide with easy access to beaches, city life and now wine country. The Outback however draws me in with its remoteness, stunning scenery, and the colours, especially the red soil, green scrubs, and trees and the bluest of skies.

Karen Holloway | Operations Manager
Kylie Damen
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

With two decades of experience crafting journeys at The Tailor, Kylie is one of our most knowledgeable and trusted designers. She is known for creating seamless, stress-free itineraries – for couples, families or travelling parties alike – and excels at thoughtful planning and honest guidance. Her goal is always the same: a journey that fits the client perfectly, down to the finest detail.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love that not every trip is the same – we get to create amazing journeys that are customised for every client’s needs and interests. It’s also about helping create great memories for our clients. Plus the team are great and there is never a dull moment!

Top travel tip

Take the time to stop and really enjoy the location you are in … these days everyone is constantly on the go! Even better, if possible, turn off your phone – take a break!

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love knowing that the destinations, accommodation and activities we offer at The Tailor are at the pinnacle of Australian travel experiences.

If I could live anywhere in Australia it would be

Near Byron Bay, for its climate, gorgeous beaches, beautiful hinterland and laidback outdoor lifestyle.

Cate Harley | Senior Travel Designer
Amanda Fisher
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

Amanda has spent more than 40 years immersed in the world of travel and hospitality, from airline reservations and hotel marketing to safari design in Africa and India. For nearly two decades, she has focused exclusively on Australian journeys, drawing from her global experience to create travel that is high-end, immersive, and truly unforgettable. Amanda’s perspective is shaped by decades of insight, and a deep love of the journey itself.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love sharing the knowledge that we have collectively gathered over years and years of selling Australia – each one of us regularly comes up with new combinations and twists on itineraries and destinations that we share with one another. With the help of our fabulous product suppliers we ‘invent’ new experiences that enable our guests to delve deeper in Australia. I love the magic that we add to every itinerary … something special, perfectly formed and ‘tailored’ to suit the traveller.

City or Wilderness? Why and where?

Wilderness and for two reasons …. One is because I love the big sky country, I love places where you can see from one edge of the earth to the other. Where the sky is literally half of everything and it is usually as blue as can be. I also love being in the wilderness because we have so much to learn about our continent’s unique history, flora, fauna, bio-diversity, the conservation challenges we face and the Aboriginal people’s amazing connection to country.

Amanda Fisher | Senior Travel Designer
Caroline Densley
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

Since joining the industry in 1997, Caroline has designed journeys that reflect her passions: food, wine, nature, and meaningful travel. She splits her time between Adelaide and Melbourne and brings a strong commitment to conservation, supporting causes such as the Koala Clancy Foundation and Forever Reef Project with every trip she books. Caroline’s industry knowledge and personal approach make her an expert guide to discovering the lesser-known wonders of Australia.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

Passionate and inspiring people who have an awesome suite of products to package together for clients that showcase an amazing Australia.

City or Wilderness? Why and where?

Wilderness; Arnhem Land – the rich Indigenous history that overlays a beautiful region adds a sense of place to the location and experiences available.

Caroline Densley | Senior Travel Designer
Angelica Aidone
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

Angelica has devoted her entire career to the travel industry, including crafting custom journeys with The Tailor since 2018. Based in Melbourne, she is known for her ability to design immersive, experience-rich itineraries. Her specialties include food and wine, cultural travel, and exclusive maker-led encounters. Clients benefit from her insider knowledge and eye for the unique.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

The Tailor has a well-earned reputation for creating authentic, luxury Australian experiences. To be a part of a team who are equally passionate about this and working for guests who want to experience this, really makes this a dream job.

Top travel tip

Experience more of less. Resist the urge to treat your trip to Australia as though it’s once in a lifetime. Slow down and enjoy. Trust me, you’ll be back!

Susanne Regenberg Drew
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

With more than 30 years in the travel industry, Susanne offers a wealth of experience and a refined eye for detail. She has a particular love for food, wine, art, and culture, and curates itineraries that are deeply personal and thoughtfully considered. For Susanne, the magic lies in the details, and her clients feel that magic in every journey she designs.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I enjoy building a special relationship with our clients from all over the world to truly understand their interests and likes before tailoring an Australian itinerary exactly to their needs, including experiences they would have never heard of. Every itinerary is different and presents a new creative challenge, which I love.

City or Wilderness? Why and where?

A little bit of both, that is why I love living in Adelaide. It is only a 5-hour drive from Adelaide and you are in the Flinders Ranges & Outback or just a short 50-minute flight to Port Lincoln to explore the Eyre Peninsula. But I would not want to miss the Adelaide city life with its amazing festivals, art exhibitions & galleries and outstanding restaurants.

Luisa Kleimann

Born in Germany and now based in Australia, Luisa brings a deep understanding of exceptional travel experiences. With a background in developing guest journeys at some of Australia’s most prestigious lodges, she has an innate talent for curating trips that feel both special and seamless. Since 2022, Luisa has been designing bespoke Australian travel with The Tailor, building lasting relationships with clients and partners along the way.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

The whole process of planning a client’s Australia holiday is always such a fun challenge and an opportunity to get creative. It’s an amazing feeling when your clients are finally traveling all over the country, experiencing all the beautiful and unique destinations Australia has to offer, knowing they will make memories of a lifetime. I also love being surrounded by a bunch of creative and passionate people and our team is just that! There is so much knowledge in our office and we are constantly learning from one another.

A destination on my bucket list… Why?

The beautiful Lord Howe Island, located in the Tasman Sea and off the New South Wales Coast. This World Heritage listed Island is the perfect destination for nature lovers like myself. With its lush rainforest with rare and endemic flora and fauna, pristine beaches and sea life there is just so much to explore. When I travel, I enjoy a good balance between relaxing and reading my book and being out and about hiking, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking or surfing. Lorde Howe Island would certainly tick all these boxes.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

The people. Everyone here is not only deeply passionate about what they do, but also about life beyond work. They bring curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in others, which makes every day inspiring and rewarding.

If I could live anywhere in Australia it would be… Why?

If I could live anywhere in Australia, I’d cheat a little and choose two places – a city home in Sydney and a country escape in the Clare Valley. Sydney excites me with its energy, people-watching, fashion, and incredible restaurants and bakeries, while the Clare Valley gives me the wide-open spaces, natural beauty, and strong sense of community I love. I can’t imagine choosing just one.

Anne den Ouden
Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

Originally from the Netherlands, Anne now calls Australia home. A seasoned traveller with a passion for adventure and the outback, she brings firsthand knowledge of the country to every itinerary. With a particular love for rugged landscapes and remote journeys, Anne delights in creating itineraries that take travellers far beyond the ordinary.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

One of the things I love most about working for The Tailor is the opportunity to create unforgettable experiences for our clients. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about hearing that a trip you helped design turned out to be the journey of a lifetime. It’s a special feeling knowing you’ve played a part in making someone’s dream a reality.

I also find it energising to craft tailored itineraries to some of the country’s most unique and remote destinations.

Every trip is a new challenge and a chance to get creative.

Top Travel Tip

Wake up early to see the sunrise where possible. It’s usually calm with little to no people around and such a great way to start the day!

Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I have known The Tailor team for over 25 years and always admired their dedication to sourcing authentic Australian experiences for clients. Featured destinations reflect how clients imagine Australia to be, but it’s our partners – passionate hosts eager to share their unique corner of the country – who truly elevate each journey. And speaking of people, it’s the commitment, expertise and collaboration of the team at The Tailor that enable us to build a strong client relationship and create amazing itineraries.

Top Travel Tip

Include at least one guided tour with our wonderful partners in each destination to tap into local knowledge, uncover hidden gems and access places and experiences off the beaten track.

Paul Done
Senior Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

With two decades in the travel industry, Paul began his career as a concierge at leading five-star hotels in both Australia and the UK, where he honed his craft in personalised service and attention to detail. Today, he brings that same precision and flair to every itinerary he designs, curating bespoke journeys that reflect the individuality of each client. Based on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Paul draws balance and clarity from a deep connection to the outdoors – pursuits like surfing, hiking and camping quietly inform his calm, considered approach to designing exceptional experiences.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love that one of The Tailor’s key philosophies is that the term ‘luxury’ is definitely not just about the hotels and lodges that we use (and we do certainly use some beautiful ones!) but, more so, it is about the fantastic experiences that we have curated that truly make a trip special. The Tailor invests so much of its time hand-picking wonderful, characterful guides throughout the country as we truly believe that they really enhance ones time in each destination and allow you to see the destination through the eyes of a local and it is these experiences which really set us apart as an operator.

City or Wilderness? Why and where?

For me this is a no brainer – wilderness! I do consider myself extremely lucky as my home base now is deep in a national park on the Far South Coast of NSW, where I not only have my own patch of wilderness and am only a few minutes walk to uncrowded beaches, but also have what I consider the best of both worlds being a short flight away from Sydney or Melbourne.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love working at The Tailor because of the team, I’m constantly inspired by the creativity, expertise, and passion everyone brings. I’m also excited by the opportunity to craft personalized experiences that are tailored to our clients’ interests, showcasing Australia’s stunning destinations in truly unique and unforgettable ways.

Beach escape or outback adventure? Why?

I love the ocean, whether it be sitting back in the sun on the sand or exploring underwater, so a beach escape is without a doubt my ideal getaway. Australia is home to pristine beaches and not to mention, some diving bucket-list destinations with incredible marine life.

Emily Hudson
Assistant Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

What I love about working at The Tailor is the mix of creativity and connection, both with our clients and with the team around me. I get to be part of a passionate group of people who genuinely care about quality and are driven to create truly memorable, one-of-a-kind journeys.

The 3 most important things for me when booking a trip for my family:

1. Family-friendly accommodation – It needs to be welcoming for children, with fun and engaging activities that keep them happy and entertained.

2. Seamless logistics – Flights that line up well, minimal layovers, and a smooth travel experience are essential for making it stress-free.

3. A balanced itinerary – I avoid overplanning. Leaving space to unwind and recharge helps everyone enjoy the experience more.

Assistant Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

Working at The Tailor allows me to be part of something genuinely meaningful. There’s real joy in taking our clients’ dreams and shaping them into one of a kind itineraries. I love being part of a team that values authenticity, quality and attention to detail, and takes pride in showcasing the best of Australia’s landscapes, culture and elevated experiences.

Take me back to…

Having a Balinese mum meant I spent much of my childhood holidaying on the island. If I could go back, it would be to Bali in the 1990s when it still felt untouched, a place waiting to be explored. Travelling through the misty mountains to Bedugul, eating street food from a local warung and swimming in rivers with cascading waterfalls are some of my most treasured memories. The pace was slower then, the streets were quieter, and the warmth of the locals wrapped around you gently, keeping you safe.

Sarsi Temme | Assistant Travel Designer
Lili Burnie
Assistant Travel Designer AT THE TAILOR

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

It is so enjoyable to work in such a collaborative and creative environment. The team have phenomenal knowledge of experiences, and suppliers all over Australia who will make sure clients leave feeling connected with the places they have visited. Whether guests want to abseil in the Blue Mountains, or take a sea plane from Hobart to join a cruise in Tasmania, or a helicopter flight to view Aboriginal rock art in North Queensland, or a bespoke multi-day safari in the Kimberley’s in Western Australia, our team is dedicated to ensuring our clients experience the best of every region and it is a privilege to be a part of the process.

Top travel tip:

I love to watch movies set in my travel destination, this gets me excited about what I will see and what not to miss out on. Also, don’t leave the packing to last minute, you risk panic packing and leaving essential items behind, or over packing and having no room for travel treasures …or… only packing tops and forgetting all your skirts, shirts and shorts.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

With over 30 years in international travel, what impresses me most is The Tailor’s deep expertise and dedication to creating truly unique journeys. Every itinerary is carefully crafted and never generic. I work alongside bright, passionate people who know how to present Australia in powerful and lasting ways. There is a constant drive to discover what is new, from rare experiences to memorable Aussie characters, and that keeps each day inspiring.

If I could live anywhere in Australia it would be… Why?

A stone cottage in the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills would be ideal. Just 20 minutes from the city, yet it feels completely removed. Surrounded by gardens, and vineyards, it’s full of native wildlife and charm. The region has a cosy, village feel, like the Cotswolds or rural France, with the Barossa and McLaren Vale close by.

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

It wasn’t until I left Australia as a young adult that I realised just how incredible Australia is. We really do live in splendours down under. Working at The Tailor and being a part of a team who specialises in sharing this splendour with our clients is a dream come true. The best part is discovering new hidden gems, local secrets or breathtaking experiences to share with our clients. Because these bespoke inclusions – the ones won’t find in any brochure – are where the magic happens.

If I could live anywhere in Australia it would be… Why?

I’d move to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in a heartbeat. Not only is the weather beautiful for most of the year, but everyone is so relaxed. It would be like living in holiday-mode all year ’round. I’d spend each morning at the beach with the kids (maybe even learn to surf), indulge in all the incredible restaurants, spend my weekends exploring the Hinterland or coastline, and end each night reading by the pool – because I’ve decreed that every home on the Sunshine Coast must come with a pool.

Working at The Tailor means being surrounded by some of the most creative minds in travel and their energy is infectious. Every day I’m inspired by the team’s dedication to go beyond planning thoughtful holidays and, instead, create journey’s that are totally immersive and transformative.

Beach escape or outback adventure? Why?

Being close to the water is always a drawcard for me when I travel so I’d have to lean towards a beach escape. There’s nothing like swimming in crystal clear ocean to slow your pulse and help you truly unwind. If I can, I like to bookend periods of travel with beach destinations; at the beginning to slide into that holiday rhythm, and at the end as the perfect spot to reflect on the journey.
