Drew was raised on a property in rural South Australia before attending boarding school and university in Adelaide majoring in Agricultural Science. Drew travelled to Kenya in 1996 and found himself hosting guests at one of the flagships of East African tourism, Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy. It was this experience that prompted him to found The Tailor in 1998, showcasing the best of Australia through the eyes of those who know it best ‘The Locals’, whilst always maintaining an exceptional standard of quality in all areas.
Drew’s passion has led to The Tailor growing to be one of the largest luxury travel companies in Australia and rated as one of the “Best Adventure Travel Companies On Earth” and “Number ONE in Australia” by National Geographic Adventure USA.

Moving home to Kangaroo Island in 1996, Kirsty became the Operations Manager for the island’s premier 4WD tour operator, before eventually moving over to Adelaide and joining The Tailor in 2003.
Kirsty has been an integral member of The Tailor team for many years, holding important roles including Travel Designer, in-house System Developer, Product Manager, and now Chief Executive Officer. Kirsty is dedicated and constantly striving to ensure that The Tailor remains the best luxury travel company in the country.
I love working at The Tailor because as a destination specialist it allows me to showcase and share incredible experiences that Australia, one of the BEST countries in the world has to offer. Australia has such an amazing variety of unique and wonderful experiences so every trip we create is different and I can’t wait to share these with visitors who will leave with memories that will last forever.
Saffire Freycinet, its stunning location is truly breathtaking, along with its amazing food and wine, it is an experience not to be missed!
Working with an amazing team of people from all walks of life with a passion for creating exception experiences that showcase our beautiful country.
The outback! I’ve been lucky to have lived in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and now Adelaide with easy access to beaches, city life and now wine country. The Outback however draws me in with its remoteness, stunning scenery, and the colours, especially the red soil, green scrubs, and trees and the bluest of skies.
I love that not every trip is the same – we get to create amazing journeys that are customised for every client’s needs and interests. It’s also about helping create great memories for our clients. Plus the team are great and there is never a dull moment!
Take the time to stop and really enjoy the location you are in … these days everyone is constantly on the go! Even better, if possible, turn off your phone – take a break!
I love knowing that the destinations, accommodation and activities we offer at The Tailor are at the pinnacle of Australian travel experiences.
Near Byron Bay, for its climate, gorgeous beaches, beautiful hinterland and laidback outdoor lifestyle.
I love sharing the knowledge that we have collectively gathered over years and years of selling Australia – each one of us regularly comes up with new combinations and twists on itineraries and destinations that we share with one another. With the help of our fabulous product suppliers we ‘invent’ new experiences that enable our guests to delve deeper in Australia. I love the magic that we add to every itinerary … something special, perfectly formed and ‘tailored’ to suit the traveller.
Wilderness and for two reasons …. One is because I love the big sky country, I love places where you can see from one edge of the earth to the other. Where the sky is literally half of everything and it is usually as blue as can be. I also love being in the wilderness because we have so much to learn about our continent’s unique history, flora, fauna, bio-diversity, the conservation challenges we face and the Aboriginal people’s amazing connection to country.
Passionate and inspiring people who have an awesome suite of products to package together for clients that showcase an amazing Australia.
Wilderness; Arnhem Land – the rich Indigenous history that overlays a beautiful region adds a sense of place to the location and experiences available.
I love working at The Tailor as we create customise itineraries showcasing the absolute best of our fabulous country. Working with a select group of suppliers and up and coming product to create incredible experiences is rewarding and fun. And the ability to meet and work with clients from all over the world means everything we do is different and completely unique to the customer. Not to forget experiencing all of these magical destinations makes it even better, and working as a part of the fabulous team!
It has to be both – an action packed outback adventure that is hands on meeting the characters of this country, seeing the wildlife, lots of activity and incredible landscapes, followed by down time on any one of our beautiful beaches to enjoy snorkelling, diving, water activities or simply relaxing – why should you have to choose!!!
The Tailor has a well-earned reputation for creating authentic, luxury Australian experiences. To be a part of a team who are equally passionate about this and working for guests who want to experience this, really makes this a dream job.
Experience more of less. Resist the urge to treat your trip to Australia as though it’s once in a lifetime. Slow down and enjoy. Trust me, you’ll be back!
I enjoy building a special relationship with our clients from all over the world to truly understand their interests and likes before tailoring an Australian itinerary exactly to their needs, including experiences they would have never heard of. Every itinerary is different and presents a new creative challenge, which I love.
A little bit of both, that is why I love living in Adelaide. It is only a 5-hour drive from Adelaide and you are in the Flinders Ranges & Outback or just a short 50-minute flight to Port Lincoln to explore the Eyre Peninsula. But I would not want to miss the Adelaide city life with its amazing festivals, art exhibitions & galleries and outstanding restaurants.
The whole process of planning a client’s Australia holiday is always such a fun challenge and an opportunity to get creative. It’s an amazing feeling when your clients are finally traveling all over the country, experiencing all the beautiful and unique destinations Australia has to offer, knowing they will make memories of a lifetime. I also love being surrounded by a bunch of creative and passionate people and our team is just that! There is so much knowledge in our office and we are constantly learning from one another.
The beautiful Lord Howe Island, located in the Tasman Sea and off the New South Wales Coast. This World Heritage listed Island is the perfect destination for nature lovers like myself. With its lush rainforest with rare and endemic flora and fauna, pristine beaches and sea life there is just so much to explore. When I travel, I enjoy a good balance between relaxing and reading my book and being out and about hiking, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking or surfing. Lorde Howe Island would certainly tick all these boxes.
Working at The Tailor is like being surrounded with family, who are truly like-minded travel professionals. You bounce off each other’s travel experiences and that assists with creating bespoke luxury itineraries for clients. Itineraries which in turn inspire you to explore and fall in love with this extraordinary country we call home – Australia.
Snacks, snacks, and more snacks. Kids are like eating machines. And lots of fun games, books, and a camera. Keeps the kids entertained by allowing themselves to capture their very own travel memories.
I love that one of The Tailor’s key philosophies is that the term ‘luxury’ is definitely not just about the hotels and lodges that we use (and we do certainly use some beautiful ones!) but, more so, it is about the fantastic experiences that we have curated that truly make a trip special. The Tailor invests so much of its time hand-picking wonderful, characterful guides throughout the country as we truly believe that they really enhance ones time in each destination and allow you to see the destination through the eyes of a local and it is these experiences which really set us apart as an operator.
For me this is a no brainer – wilderness! I do consider myself extremely lucky as my home base now is deep in a national park on the Far South Coast of NSW, where I not only have my own patch of wilderness and am only a few minutes walk to uncrowded beaches, but also have what I consider the best of both worlds being a short flight away from Sydney or Melbourne.
Throughout every corner of Australia, we possess deep insights and strong relationships with a diverse array of distinctive experiences, personalities, and properties. From the initial briefing with our partners, we are assured that collaboratively, we will curate and deliver a completely customized itinerary for our clients. Nothing is more rewarding than receiving feedback from both clients and partners alike, highlighting how their expectations were surpassed throughout the day.
Personally, I choose Wilderness. I live just over an hour from Melbourne and am surrounded by towering forests with challenging hiking trails and pristine waterways, and abundance of native wildlife and that never ceases to amaze and entertain. Australia, being one of the world’s least populated continents, offers a profound sense of freedom and endless opportunities for exploration once you leave the cities.
I love working at The Tailor because of the team, I’m constantly inspired by the creativity, expertise, and passion everyone brings. I’m also excited by the opportunity to craft personalized experiences that are tailored to our clients’ interests, showcasing Australia’s stunning destinations in truly unique and unforgettable ways.
I love the ocean, whether it be sitting back in the sun on the sand or exploring underwater, so a beach escape is without a doubt my ideal getaway. Australia is home to pristine beaches and not to mention, some diving bucket-list destinations with incredible marine life.
I enjoy the dynamic and energetic work environment at The Tailor, we are a team of hard working and creative individuals who are pushing the boundaries in Australian luxury travel!
Cruising the Kimberley in style aboard True North – what more can you want. Learning about the landscapes and history from their expert guides while staying in comfort and enjoying good food, wine and conversation!
In my role as lead guide for The Tailor Touring Co., I get to meet so many guests from all over the world. Learning more about their country and passing on my knowledge of Australia is always a highlight when touring guests around South Australia.
As much as I love the beach, the outback is always my go-to. I love the remoteness, the colours and the wildlife. Combine that with a night sitting around a good campfire gazing at the stars, that’s hard to beat.
Working at The Tailor means being surrounded by some of the most creative minds in travel and their energy is infectious. Every day I’m inspired by the team’s dedication to go beyond planning thoughtful holidays and, instead, create journey’s that are totally immersive and transformative.
Being close to the water is always a drawcard for me when I travel so I’d have to lean towards a beach escape. There’s nothing like swimming in crystal clear ocean to slow your pulse and help you truly unwind. If I can, I like to bookend periods of travel with beach destinations; at the beginning to slide into that holiday rhythm, and at the end as the perfect spot to reflect on the journey.
I love working with a talented team of amazing people, who are at the forefront of experiential luxury travel in Australia. I am in awe of the way our team goes above and beyond to create the most amazing hand-crafted Australian journeys for our clients. The experience, dedication and creativity at The Tailor is unparalleled and I am humbled to be in the privileged position to bring our knowledge and experience to life through story.
At the El Questro Homestead, perched on the edge of the Chamberlain River in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It’s a region that I have yet to visit, but find myself in awe of its natural, rugged beauty and I would very much like to discover the wider region to take in the breathtaking canyons, swim in the freshwater swimming holes and see the beautiful, untouched coastline.
I tend to think that my role at The Tailor is being an “Illusionist”. When you expose your work to thousands of people via our website, you understand you are creating a window to make viewers capture an idea and a style of travel they are pursuing. Difference here is that we can make those illusions real.
Lizard Island because this beautiful island is one of the best and most unique spots to experience the Great Barrier Reef.
The people at The Tailor are a pleasure to work with and make it enjoyable to come to work. I love that everyone cares and that you have flexibility when needed.
1. Passport/visa(s) or Photo IDs
2. Cash and credit card(s)
3. Reservations and itineraries with Hotel and/or tour contact information
I love the incredible people and supportive culture. Everyone is so passionate and dedicated to creating exceptional travel experiences. This makes my role in administration and accounts so much more engaging and enjoyable than it might typically be, as the team’s energy brings an exciting dynamic to the work.
Wilderness, without a doubt! Growing up in the country, I’ve always loved the sense of remoteness and the chance to switch off from reality. If I had to pick a destination, it would be Tasmania – its stunning landscapes and untouched beauty are a perfect balance of adventure and tranquillity. It’s a place that always feels like a true escape.
