Stretching north across the middle of South Australia lies the Flinders Ranges. Arid desert landscapes and silhouetted mountain ranges provide a dramatic departure from Adelaide’s quaint cityscape. This incredible outback destination is steeped in history for both our Aboriginal and European descendants. For travellers with an appreciation for history and aboriginal culture, the Flinders Ranges provides a fascinating story to be discovered.
Discovering this unique and wonderful region can be done by car, or perhaps take a walk on the wild side, literally, and uncover this semi-arid wilderness on foot with the brilliant Arkaba Walk. Wind down after your adventure with a stay at the Arkaba Lodge, combining adventure and luxury on your outback experience.
Come and discover the true nature of the Flinders Ranges first-hand and appreciate the ancient beauty emanating from this incredible region.
Summer (December to February) in the Flinders Ranges can be a very hot affair, with temperatures ranging between 16 – 31° C (60.8 – 87.8° F). Due to the oftentimes extreme heat during this season, Arkaba Walks do not run between the summer months. In winter these temperatures drop to 15 – 25° C (56.3 – 59° F), with the temperature at night dropping even further.
Spring and Autumn are very mild seasons in the Flinders Ranges and average temperatures range between 15 – 25° C (56.3 – 59° F). The slightly cooler days allow for comfortable exploration of the region.
