A fantastic base for visiting the surrounding wineries and boutique spirit producers, Launceston is within fantastic proximity to the Tamar Valley. There are also a number of National Parks that are known for excellent wildlife-spotting.

The city itself is alive with all the usual features of a modernistic city, including excellent cafes and restaurants. A boardwalk links the city with the cultural precinct if Inveresk, where one of Australia’s best regional galleries can be found.

Summer December - February

In the summer (December to February) the days are typically sunny and warm, with the average temperature sitting at 21 – 23.5°C (69.8 – 74.3°F).
Winter June - August

In the winter (June to August) that changes drastically with the average temperature dropping to 10.8 – 12°C (51.4 – 53.6°F).
Spring and Autumn September - November, March - May

During spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) the temperatures even out and the days turn typically mild and enjoyable, with the average daily temperature sitting between 14 – 21.2°C (57.2 – 70.2°F).

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love that one of The Tailor’s key philosophies is that the term ‘luxury’ is definitely not just about the hotels and lodges that we use (and we do certainly use some beautiful ones!) but, more so, it is about the fantastic experiences that we have curated that truly make a trip special. The Tailor invests so much of its time hand-picking wonderful, characterful guides throughout the country as we truly believe that they really enhance ones time in each destination and allow you to see the destination through the eyes of a local and it is these experiences which really set us apart as an operator.

City or Wilderness? Why and where?

For me this is a no brainer – wilderness! I do consider myself extremely lucky as my home base now is deep in a national park on the Far South Coast of NSW, where I not only have my own patch of wilderness and am only a few minutes walk to uncrowded beaches, but also have what I consider the best of both worlds being a short flight away from Sydney or Melbourne.
