Lord Howe Island

Located just off the New South Wales coast

Lord Howe Island is framed by lush green mountains and unspoilt wilderness

Surrounded by the southern-most coral reef, Lord Howe Island is home to an array of vibrant coral and fish species. Described by the UNESCO Word Heritage List in 1982 as a rare and unique beauty, rich in history and folk-lore.

Lord Howe is the perfect destination for travellers seeking tranquillity, away from life within the major cities of the world. To ensure that your visit is met with luxury and pure relaxation, one of Australia’s fantastic luxury resorts is on-hand to cater to your every desire.

Rocky caves, ancient summits, beautiful bike rides and leisurely seaside adventures, these are the true experiences which shape Lord Howe Island. Getting out and about on the island is an absolute must, as there is just so much to learn, discover and experience.

  • Climb to the top of Mt Gower and marvel at the incredible scene laid out before you.
  • Enjoy the magnificent food and dining experiences to be found at Capella Lodge.
  • Explore the island in search for the array of rare birdlife, plants and marine life to be discovered.

Lord Howe Island enjoys a very mild and consistent climate all year round.

In summer (December to February), the days are typically warm and sunny with temperatures averaging between 20 – 25° C (68 – 77° F). In the winter (June to August) the temperatures are cooler and range between 12 – 19° C (53.6 – 66.2° F).

Autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November) are also beautiful times to visit the island, with temperatures falling between 14 – 25° C (57.2 – 77° F), making for very mild and temperate days.

What do our experts say about Lord Howe Island?

"There’s so much to love about Lord Howe Island, but one of the more memorable and unique experiences was wading into knee deep water at Ned’s Beach to hand-feed the fish. I couldn’t believe what diversity of fish there was, and it made for plenty of laughs – would be a fantastic experience for families with kids!"
