Melbourne can be known for having very fickle weather – with four seasons known to occur in one day.

Summer (December to February) in Melbourne can be hot, with temperatures ranging between 14 – 25.3°C (57.2 – 77.5°F), however the region is also prone to hot spells and temperatures can reach well beyond 30°C (86°F). Winter (June to August) is the opposite, with much colder temperatures and snow falls in the north-east. Average temperatures during this period are between 6.5 – 14.2°C (43.7 – 57.6°F).

Autumn (March to May) and Spring (September to November) are quite mild in comparison, with temperatures ranging between 90.6 – 20.3°C (49.3 – 68.5°F). These are both favourable times to visit the city.

What do our experts say about Melbourne?

"As a Melbourne local one of my tips is to visit the South Melbourne Market instead of the Queen Vic and make sure you go hungry! Melbourne is a cultural and creative hub with a vibrant and incredible food scene, art, music, sport and more. It’s far less about the sites and attractions and more about getting involved and being immersed in local culture and life."
