Seasons in Hinterland

The Queensland Hinterlands experiences warm and wet summers, and dry mild winters, much like the rest of the state.

Summer December - February

In summer (December to February), the days are typically warm with expected rains, the average daily temperature sits at 30°C (86°F).
Winter June - August

In winter (June to August) the daily temperatures drop slightly on average, however they still maintain a mild average of between 20.8 – 22.2°C (69.4 – 71.9°F).
Spring and Autumn September - November, March - May

During the spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) months the days daily vary between mild and warm, with the average daily temperature sitting between 23.8 – 29.2°C (74.8 – 84.6°F).

There is nothing quite like arriving to Spicers Peak Lodge by helicopter. Flying up, over the mountain ridge and landing on the expansive lawns outside the lodge is one of the best experiences I have encountered, absolutely breath-taking views!

What do I love about working at The Tailor?

I love that one of The Tailor’s key philosophies is that the term ‘luxury’ is definitely not just about the hotels and lodges that we use (and we do certainly use some beautiful ones!) but, more so, it is about the fantastic experiences that we have curated that truly make a trip special. City or Wilderness? Why and where?

For me this is a no brainer – wilderness! I do consider myself extremely lucky as my home base now is deep in a national park on the Far South Coast of NSW, where I not only have my own patch of wilderness and am only a few minutes walk to uncrowded beaches, but also have what I consider the best of both worlds being a short flight away from Sydney or Melbourne.
