With an expansive 423,000 square kilometres of remote landscape, the Kimberley is a prolific destination featuring wildlife, majestic canyons, freshwater swimming holes and indigenous culture stretching back tens of thousands of years. With the region being largely untouched, the Kimberley is home to an incredible array of beautiful beaches, untouched coral atolls and an amazing array of marine life.
Hemmed by impenetrable coastline and arid desert landscapes, this region is a true wilderness, perfect for adventurers with a true appreciation of nature and wildlife. With so much to see and do, the region is great for solo travellers, families and couples alike.
To ensure your journey includes a touch of luxury, include a stay at the well-appointed El Questro Homestead, perched on the edge of the Chamberlain River. View the Kimberley from a unique perspective, onboard the wonderful True North cruises for a luxury multi-day cruise, allowing access to remote destinations not accessible by land.
The Kimberley experiences two seasons throughout the year similar to Darwin and the Top End. These seasons are the wet season (November to April) and the dry season (May to October).
The wet season is when the humidity and temperatures are high and an average of 600mm of rain falls in monsoonal rains. The average daily temperature over this time of year is between 35 – 42C (95 – 107.6F). Tropical cyclones are also prone to developing in the region during the wet season.
The dry season is the ideal time to visit the Kimberley, with warm and sunny days complimented by a lovely average temperature of 28 – 34C (82.4 – 93.2F).
