Lord Howe Island is one of Australia’s most inspiring destinations, and Capella Lodge is its most exclusive residence. With astonishing ocean and mountain views, it makes for the perfect base to explore this remarkable and little-visited island.
Capella is a boutique nine-suite lodge that carries all the hallmarks of luxurious beachside living, perched above Lord Howe Island’s spectacular Lover’s Bay. The visual drama is compelling: floor-to-ceiling windows allow Lord Howe’s signature subtropical forests, the towering twin peaks of Mounts Gower and Lidgbird, and the jewel-toned reef to take centre stage.
The Lodge’s contemporary style and streamlined luxury – interiors in muted colours with hints of modern tropical and mariner chic – is beautifully matched with exceptional dining and first name service.
“Fabulously chic and luxurious”
Vogue Entertaining and Travel (Australia)
Exceptionally beautiful Lord Howe is World Heritage Listed for its rare collection of plants, birds and marine life. Born from a volcanic eruption some seven million years ago, the island is 11 kilometres long and barely two kilometres at its widest point.
A ‘treasure island’ of extraordinary contrasts, with rugged volcanic peaks, lush forests, rolling surf and serene lagoons, Lord Howe Island is encircled by the world’s southern-most coral reef and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1982. Long recognised for its pristine natural heritage, around 75% of the island is permanently preserved as marine park and subtropical rainforest.
Rising from the Tasman Sea 700km northeast of Sydney, Lord Howe’s visitor numbers are restricted to 400 at any one time to preserve the precious natural environment.
