Escape and relax in ultimate luxury at Quamby Estate. Situated on 150 acres of picture book landscape, this enchanting country manor is one of Tasmania’s most prestigious and historically significant properties. Dating back to the 1830s, Quamby Estate was the ancestral home of the State’s first-born Premier, Sir Richard Dry and the Government House of the North.
Lovingly restored, Quamby Estate’s charming Anglo-Indian designed architecture, period antiques and marble fireplaces combine modern luxuries to offer complete tranquillity and opulence. The magnificent homestead features ten impeccably restored guestrooms. Providing the homely ambience of a boutique country inn, each room is uniquely decorated with an eclectic collection of original art and antique furniture mixing the old and the new, creating each room’s character. Extensive entertaining areas, executive sitting rooms and an Executive Chef to create culinary delights that showcase the fine local produce will complete your Quamby experience. From an elaborate formal dinner to a gourmet picnic at a secluded area of the estate, our cuisine will be a highlight of your stay.
Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the lush country landscape and explore the estate’s endless activities including golf, bike riding, hiking and tennis. Experience the hidden gems of the Tamar and Meander Valleys with gourmet produce and vineyard touring, a spectacular cliffs and caves escapade, try your hand at fly fishing or as the official base commence your Cradle Mountains and Bay of Fires treks.

Road access
Quamby Estate is situated near the historic township of Hagley, the property can be reached either via the Bass Highway or Meander Valley Highway between Launceston and Deloraine.
Known as ‘Quamby Laneway’ and being 1.6 kilometres in length this road connects the Meander Valley Highway to the Quamby homestead.
You enter the estate along a hawthorn- lined driveway, level at first, then it dips, crossing a bridge over a creek. The roadway ascends through an avenue of trees – the tallest branches touching high above – until you come to a beautifully framed Tasmanian landscape and verdant green sloping lawns. You pass the golf course past some lakes then beneath a tall canopy of cottonwoods and English elms.
The homestead is eventually reached – set in acres of manicured lawns dominated by an ancient oak, two solitary sequoias, cottonwoods and an exceptional specimen tree – an English hornbeam. From this same vantage point you can survey Quamby’s endless views to the eastern and southern horizons. This laneway is very old and retains its status as a Reserve Road.
